The Jonny Mogambo Band has been playing throughout Colorado, nationally, and internationally for over fifteen years now. You can always catch Jonny Mogambo in the wintertime slopeside performing his high energy solo acoustic act from Vail and Telluride to Aspen and Summit County, Colorado. Or, you may find the Jonny Mogambo Band throughout the club scene in any of its forms from the three piece power trio to the nine piece funk rock rhythm and groove band.
The Jonny Mogambo Band has toured extensively in the United States making stops in Lake Tahoe, CA., Salt Lake City, UT., Lincoln, NE., Atlanta, GA., Lake Okaboji, IO., Chicago, IL., Clevland, OH., all over Michigan, New Orleans, LA., Ft. Worth, TX., all over Colorado, and many more cities along the way. They have also toured Turkey, Greece, Italy, and Spain and have played USO tours throughout Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
Recently in 2009, we have had some great shows at Finnegan's Wake and the Wolcott Yacht Club in the Vail valley entertaining guests from around the world visiting the world class resorts of Beaver Creek and Vail. We just hit Atlanta, GA for a great party for Race Track Petroleum and started the summer in Denver with an excellent dance party for Dividend Capital and Black Creek Capital. When Taj Mahal came through town it was great to hang with Taj and the rythm section of Bill Rich and Kester Smith, two alumni of the Jonny Mogambo experience. Bill played with the band for six years before going back on the road with Taj Mahal and it is a real treat to hang with one of our early idols and we give thanks to Mr. Bill Rich for making the introduction.
We played BB Kings in Memphis on a tour of the Delta hitting Oxford Mississippi and stopping for a spiritual experience at the crossroads in Clarksdale Mississippi playing Morgan Freeman's club Ground Zero in the hometown of Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker and Son House to name a few. We where flown to Las Vegas to play the House Of Blues at Mandalay Bay. We where treated as rock star royalty as we where picked up on the runway in our own private limosine and later rocked the room at the House of Blues. It was a night that all involved will remember. And a highlight from late 2008 was hanging out and talking for hours with BB King after his show at the Volar center in Beaver Creek. It was amazing to share stories and our love and passion for music and the life it has created for all of us!
